How many miles can a scooter last

I've had crankshaft bearings (one, actually) go bad on my 50cc Peugeot
Speedfight 50cc (water cooled, 5hp+, one of the faster ones - read - revs
more then average) at around 15.500 miles.

I had this scooter since 12k mile mark and I've put about 7k miles on it
in just over a year (courier stuff), and the scooter was just short of abused
by the previous owner, and even had a Leovince ZX exhaust which I
removed when I got it.

The scooter's suspension and brakes were tired (2003 model), but the
engine was still going strong like it was @ day 1. 50mph+ indicated. It
was used 24/7, all year round, up to 2" of snow on the roads.

When opened for inspection at 15k, the guys in the shop said it's not
showing any signs of wear and that they guarantee it'll do 30.000 miles
without problems.

Only one thing to add, both previous owner and me used premium
synthetic oil (esso and fuchs), only expensive stuff.

Like previous post says, if the little 50cc, rather stressed one too can
do this, 125cc 4 stroke should be able to do at least double if you don't
keep it pinned all the time and use good oil.

I'll likely be putting less than a thousand miles a year on my scooter, so the engine should last a long, long time. I'll just be boppin' around my little town, goin' to the beach, concerts, pickin' up a few groceries and laundry soap... :0) I'd imagine that things like hoses and mufflers will go far sooner than the engine.

Hopefully, the parts for Vino 125's will be plentiful in the future.

Anyone know what kind of servicing you should get to get more life out of a scooter? Do you just follow the maintenance schedules they provide or are there tricks to extending the life of your bike? I'll drain the gas before storing in the winter and change the oil after it sits all winter and after every few months of use, I figure.

Outside of that, I'm a real "noobie."

Your best bet is to drain and refill the oil WHEN you put it away for the winter, not after the winter. Acids accumulate in used oil, why let it sit there and eat your engine?

Also, change your oil when it's hot, i.e., after the engine has been running for a while. It flows better and more used oil will come out quicker.

Change the filter every time you change the oil.

You can ride it non stop upto 60 Kms. But keeping in mind its engine you should give it some rest ( 15 mins atleast)after 60 km ride. Scooters are not technically built for long drive but if can put comfort and control aside you can do it with any bike.
