Manchester united vs liverpool where to watch

With two defeats from two Premier League games as Manchester United manager under his belt, Erik ten Hag could have asked for a kinder fixture than the visit of arch-rivals Liverpool.

However, Jurgen Klopp's side are faltering themselves in the early stages of this season, having posted consecutive draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Of course, regardless of the form these two sides are in, the prospect of English football's two biggest clubs facing is always enough to excite.

Here's how to follow the action from Old Trafford when these iconic sides renew their hostilities.

Manchester United vs. Liverpool predicted lineups

Manchester United will hope that Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof can return after missing recent games through injury.

Ten Hag has few other fitness concerns, though he will surely swap in Raphael Varane for Lisandro Martinez at the back after making that change at half-time of last week's defeat to Brentford.

Manchester United predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea (GK) — Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw — Fred, Eriksen — Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford — Ronaldo

As for Liverpool, they are likely to welcome Roberto Firmino back from injury to take the place of the suspended Darwin Nunez, while Joe Gomez should be fit to start in place of Nat Phillips.

However, an already lengthy injury list now features Joel Matip alongside the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, none of whom will be available to feature.

Liverpool predicted starting XI (4-3-3): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson — Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson — Salah, Firmino, Diaz

Manchester United vs. Liverpool betting odds

Liverpool have won on their last two trips to Old Trafford and have avoided defeat there in the Premier League since 2018, so it is little surprise to see them start as strong favourites.

However, a United hurting from successive defeats and roared on by a boisterous Old Trafford crowd could prove a tricky prospect for Klopp's out-of-sorts side.

Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday night as they look to avoid losing their first three league games since the 1986-87 season.

As the ball hit the back of United's net for the fourth time in West London on Saturday afternoon, the reality of Erik ten Hag's challenge sunk in. It was a result that even the most pessimistic fan would not have seen coming and a sign of the club's slow but steady demise since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

They say that when it rains, it pours - and there is no respite for United as their next match sees them come up against bitter rivals Liverpool. Ten Hag will know that unless his side can upset the odds, the reality of losing their first three matches in-a-row is staring him in the face.
