How can i make iced coffee at home

  • I made the simple syrup two different ways, once with cane sugar and once with white sugar, and it tasted so much better with the white sugar. I thought the cane sugar would be just as sweet, but I was wrong. I feel this is a treat, so having white sugar once in a while is okay.
  • Taste the coffee; if you would like it sweeter, add more vanilla simple syrup.
  • Half-and-half makes this creamy, but if you want to cut down on fat content, whole milk or milk of your choice would be fine; it just won't be as creamy, but hey, the option is all yours.
  • Whenever I have leftover coffee in the morning, I pour it into ice cube trays and freeze it into coffee ice cubes. When frozen, I put them into a freezer bag, then grab them anytime I make an iced coffee; that way, I don't have watered-down iced coffee.
  • I make the coffee earlier in the day or the night before and then place it in the fridge so it is ready to use when I want to make a perfect iced coffee.
  • If you know you are going to make iced coffee, use a higher ratio of coffee to water when preparing your cup of joe. Since ice will dilute your drink, you'll want to use a little more coffee than you would for a hot cup, unless you are using coffee ice cubes.
  • Use large ice cubes so they melt more slowly. This will help to keep your drink cold without making it too watered down.
  • Be sure to give your iced coffee a good stir before drinking to evenly distribute all the flavors.
  • This recipe is quick, easy, budget-friendly, and tastes just like the gourmet coffee-shops, if not better!

How can i make iced coffee at home

When you live in California, you have a ton of options for great coffee. But whe you start hitting all the hottest coffee shops around town, it gets to be quite expensive. At one point, I ended up splurging on a $10 latte at Alfred’s Coffee!

But as always, nothing beats the homemade version – taste-wise and money-wise. And with this easy perfect iced coffee recipe, you won’t have to overpay for coffee ever again.

All you have to do is brew your coffee the night before using good-quality coffee beans. That way, it can come to room temperature by the time the morning comes around. Now I have personally never been a fan of pouring hot coffee over ice but if it doesn’t bother you, then you can whip this up in the morning – it’s up to you!

Then you can whip up a batch of simple syrup, but only if you need it. A batch should last you for a few weeks, unless you like to douse your coffee in sugary goodness. No judgment here. Then you can add a splash of milk or half-and-half, although I highly recommend the latter.

Now you can skip the hectic Starbucks line and have quality coffee for a quarter of the price right at home!

Do you know your instant coffee is much more than just what you drink to make you stay alert when you are tired and all? Then you are yet to meet Dalgona coffee (thanks Tik Tok), today’s iced coffee drink, plus my perfect flavourful coffee cake.

The first time I knew about iced coffee was at my aunt’s home back in Nigeria. It was sunnier and hotter than usual, she made us creamy cold coffee that afternoon with Nescafe instant coffee granules, it was smooth, sweet, refreshing and delicious.

I have never looked back ever since. I had a good excuse making this every time because living in a tropical country means iced drinks.

      Homemade cold coffee recipe

I have since experimented with many versions, even before I knew what iced mocha was, I was making this beverage with hot chocolate and coffee. I am known for my mocha by the way, I make some mean ones.

Moreso, with all that is happening in the world this recent time also meant that I have been able to experiment with various DIY coffee drinks including frozen coffee. I will be sharing the recipes in due course.

When I am feeling generous with my time and not minding washing the extra dishes, I make myself and the family some Frappe. This is a glorified blended Dalgona or cold coffee by the way. Just kidding now. It is equally tasty and I love it.

You would be happy to know this recipe works with decaffeinated coffee too in case you are not keen on caffeine. I love the fact that you can still keep this iced coffee healthy using low fat milk or dairy free alternatives.

If you are not counting calories like me then this cold beverage is perfect with some flavoured coffee creamer or condensed milk.

Today's recipe is similar to this Starbucks copycat brown sugar oat milk shaken coffee. It is great if you are vegan and lactose intolerant.

      Ingredients

Instant coffee of choice, I used caffeinated Nescafe, you can use any brand of instant coffee you have. You can also use flavoured coffee too. I try not to go crazy with these premade flavoured coffee as some of them taste very weird. That is why I mostly stick with the good ol’ plain coffee granule and add flavoured syrup if need be.

Sugar: I used granulated sugar, you can use brown sugar, coconut sugar, sweetener, stevia or any type of sweetener you want.

Chilled water, I use water that has been in the fridge. I simply place some water in the fridge some few minutes before I make the beverage so it is colder than what I get from the tap.

Warm water: yes, you read right, you only need a little bit. I found that the best way to make smooth iced coffee is by dissolving the coffee and sugar first with warm water before diluting with more water and milk.

Milk: Any type of milk works for this recipe. My go-to includes half and half, full fat dairy milk when I don’t mind the extra calories and I want to treat myself. Condensed milk works too. My non-dairy option is soy milk or almond milk.

Ice: lots of it. You have to be careful how much you add especially if you are having this on the go. You don’t want the ice to water down the drink. If you would be using a lot as recommended, double the amount of coffee you would normally use. You can also drink this non-alcoholic beverage without ice

Coffee stirrer or latte spoon, in my case I used a chopstick and it worked like magic.

      Glass to serve the drink.

In case you are wondering how much instant coffee per cup, I usually do 2 teaspoons which I think is perfect. My husband likes his to be strong and he uses about 3 teaspoons. He only drink coffee like at the start of day and his theory is, “if you are going to drink coffee then make it count”.

Pour the hot coffee over a cup that's filled with lots and lots of ice. You'll notice a few iced cubes starting to melt which will help dilute and bring it to room temperature. After a few minutes and when there's ice floating, not melting, transfer into a new cup filled with ice. Add creamer and sugar if desired.
