Follow us Can you weigh too little to give blood?Be in good general health and feeling well. Be at least 17 years old in most states (16 years old with parental consent in some states). Weigh at least 110 lbs.
Is weight important for blood donation?To donate blood, the minimum weight is 50 kg. We need you to be above a minimum weight because the amount of blood your body contains is related to your weight and height.
Can you donate plasma if underweight?Can I donate if I am underweight? You must weigh at least 110 pounds.
Can I donate blood if my blood is thin?If you have a history of bleeding problems, you will be asked additional questions. If your blood does not clot normally, you should not donate since you may have excessive bleeding where the needle was placed. If you are taking any “blood thinner” (such as coumadin or heparin) you should not donate.
