Overall Opinion:

I gave St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse 2.5 out of 5 stars.

So I found it to be a pretty average self tanner.

I would’ve ranked it higher if the product itself wasn’t so gross.  This mousse has a green guide, and is SO sticky.  The product never dried once applied to my skin, and I just felt nasty while I waited for the tan to develop.

My tan was a nice color, but it wasn’t nearly dark enough.  I only had a light to medium shade after leaving the product on for 2.5 hours.  The nice thing about this self tanner is it’s an “express mousse”, so you leave it on a few hours, and wash it off before you go to bed.

This one may be okay for those of you with very pale skin, but I found it to be pretty average and nothing special.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This mousse really freaked me out when I started applying it.  The guide is green!  We aren’t talking a green hue, it’s literally green.

The mousse is a little on the thinner side, and doesn’t hold its shape too well.  It dissolved into my mitt within a few seconds.

Application

I’d highly recommend using a tanning mitt unless you want green hands.

With a mitt, I found application wasn’t too bad.  If you don’t use a mitt, you need to be careful while applying this one, because it’s a little runny and will drip on your floor.

It’s pretty easy to blend in, and the green guide is visible (only a little) on your skin as you apply.

Drying Time

This one is SO sticky, and it never dries.  Thankfully you only have to leave it on up to 3 hours, but man are the 3 hours miserable and uncomfortable.

I left the tanner on for 2.5 hours and the entire time the product never dried and was one of the stickiest ones I’ve tried.

Smell (Before Application)

I don’t hate the smell, but it’s not my favorite either.

It’s very perfumey, which does a good job covering up the DHA smell, but it’s almost TOO perfumey.  It’s on the border of smelling like a floral old lady perfume.  The smell is very strong and a lot of people it’ll be too overwhelming.

Some of you out there may like it, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

After 2.5 hours, I couldn’t wait to get this one off.

The smell became overwhelming and I could also smell DHA.  It wasn’t a pleasant mixture if you ask me.

Color Produced

Like with many “instant” tans, you need to leave this one on 1 hour for a light tan, 2 hours for a medium tan and 3 hours for a dark tan.

I left mine on 2.5 hours (I was too tired to wait the extra 30 minutes for a dark tan, haha).  So I was expecting somewhere between a medium and a dark tan.

Once I washed the product off, I immediately saw no difference in my skin tone.  But that’s ok, because that’s how most express mousses work; they take a full 6-8 hours to develop.

By the next morning my tan had developed and I had a light to medium shade tan.  It wasn’t as dark as I was expecting it to be after leaving it on almost 3 hours.

The tan was even, smooth and natural which I really liked.  I just wish it were darker, especially after I was so uncomfortable for 3 hours with the tan on! I was surprised, but my tan wasn’t green at all.  It was a light brown color.

If you’re only looking for a light, medium tan than I think you’ll be happy with this one.  Just know with this one, there’s no way you’ll get darker than a medium shade, even if you leave it on more than 3 hours.

For me, the color payoff wasn’t worth the grossness of this mousse.

How Long It Lasts

My tan only lasted 2 days.  It started fading really quickly after that, especially on my chest.

My chest was back to its pale color after only 2 days.  I wish this tan had lasted longer.

OK For Men?

I don’t think men will like this one.  There are better express mousses out there, that aren’t as gross on your skin and have better color payoff.

Price

St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse sells for $44.00 per bottle.  That’s pretty expensive, and definitely a little higher than average.
