Operating on a single 9-volt alkaline battery, this smoke detector provides reliable protection from smoke or fire, even during power outages. What’s more, this smoke detector is easy to install on the ceiling. Note that, after 10 years, the smoke alarm will need to be disposed of and replaced. UL Certified with a 3-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL217, NFPA72, NFPA 101, & FHA.

I bought this fire alarm since it was the closest model to my last Kiddie alarm, which seemed to do the job. This fire alarm doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other alarms, but the price is right and it does what it's supposed to do. I was hoping I could use the same mounting bracket as my old alarm, however I had to install the new one that came with this alarm. Install was easy with no issues. The alarm definitely detects smoke well, as we've already had it go off a couple times due to cooking in the kitchen down the hall.
Overall, I'd recommend this alarm because it works and the price is right.

and your property insurance agency will give you a discount. every 10 years (or "zero" year) replace the battery. the half-life of the radio-emitter is 400 years, so you just got a big bang for your buck (it's so weak the plastic case contains it, so you won't glow in the dark)! just remember the battery: many fire-deaths are in homes with a detector having a dead battery/no
battery.
this version picks up the hot/fine carbons, so mount it in an area near a furnace or gas flame water heater, etc. get the photo-e detector for your living area, etc, for the smoldering fires that can kill you with toxic fumes. these are, as i posted, Life Insurance! if you have time, stop by a fire squad and ask to talk to someone about this--you are literally gambling your family and your safety! if you are elderly and/or disabled, they'll come and bring one and install it, FREE or
replace a battery that's dying FREE. call your non-emergency/business fire and police helpline. they'd much rather bring and install a smoke detector, rather than have to carry anyone out in a bag.

I had an older version of this model. It had similar writing/info on the back. It similarly said to replace after 10 years - dated 2003. It was still working fine...until it began a continual beep a week ago. This wasn't a beep signalling to replace the battery (though I tried that, and it still did the same).
The price is excellent for the value - even replacing every 10 years.
The mounting plate is the same as the prior model, so it was a 30 second replacement.
