How to replace the low beam, high beam, turn signal, parking and sidemarker light bulbs in 2007-2012 Mazda CX-9.

Low Beam Headlamp On This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the 1st generation 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Mazda CX-9 SUV in replacing any of the light bulbs in the headlight assemblies.

Owners of other Mazda vehicles such as the MAZDA2, MAZDA3, MAZDA6, MX-5 Miata, RX-8, MAZDASPEED3, MAZDA5, Tribute SUV, and CX-7 crossover may also find this guide to be helpful.

The headlight assembly of a '07-'15 Mazda CX-9 contains the following light bulbs with their respective part numbers: Low Beam # H11, High Beam # 9005, Parking Light # 2825, Front Turn Signal # 7440A (or 992) and Front Side Marker # 2827.

No tools are needed to replace any of the headlight bulbs.

The bulbs are available from a variety of manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, PIAA, Philips, Eiko, and Nokya.



 

High Beam Bulb Dust Cover

1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise

Remove Dust Cover
The small Parking Light bulb and the High Beam bulb are located next to each other at the corner of the headlight assembly closest to the center line of the vehicle.

(For an illustration of where each bulb is located in the headlight, please take a look at Picture 1 on this page.)

To access them, you'll need to first remove the black plastic dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn counter clockwise.

The parking light bulb has a small light grey socket while the high beam bulb has a black base and a blue power connector.

High Beam & Parking Light

1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise
Remove the parking light bulb by rotating the light grey socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out.

Then pull the old # 2825light bulb straight out of the socket.

Push in a new # 2825bulb, insert the bulb and socket back into the headlight and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.


Parking Light Removed

Pull Out # 2825 Bulb

Grab High Beam Bulb Base
To remove the high beam bulb, rotate the black base and blue power connector 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the headlight assembly.

Pull Out High Beam Bulb

Blue Power Connector
Separate the blue power connector from the black base of the high beam bulb by lifting up on the release tab before pulling them apart.

Sylvania 9005 High Beam

High Beam Bulb Socket
Push a new # 9005high beam bulb on to the blue power connector, insert it into the headlight assembly, and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Replace Black Dust Cap
Double check that the parking light and high beam bulb sockets are securely in place before replacing the round dust cover by rotating it 1/4 turn clockwise.

1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise


  The Low Beam headlight bulb is located at the center of the headlight assembly. To access it, first remove the black plastic dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn counter clockwise.

# H11 Low Beam Bulb Base

1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise
To remove the low beam bulb, rotate the base 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the headlight assembly.

Light Grey Power Connector

Lift Up Tab - Release Power
Separate the light grey power connector from the low beam bulb's base by lifting up on the release tab before pulling them apart.

Philips # H11 Low Beam

Power Plug On New Bulb

Low Beam Bulb Receptacle
Push the light grey power connector on to the base of a new # H11low beam bulb, insert the bulb into the headlight assembly and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Install New Low Beam Bulb

1/4 Turn Clockwise

Re-Install Dust Cap
Re-install the round black plastic dust cover over the rear of the headlight assembly and rotate' it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Turn Signal & Sidemarker

Turn Signal Bulb Socket
The side marker and turn signal light bulbs are located at the corner of the headlight assembly closest to the outer edge of the vehicle.

The turn signal bulb has a light grey socket and the side marker bulb has a black socket.


1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise

Pull Out Old # 992 Bulb

Sidemarker Bulb Socket
Remove the turn signal bulb by rotating the light grey base 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out of the headlight assembly.

Pull the old # 992 (A.K.A. 7440A) light bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new one.

Re-install the bulb and socket back into the headlight assembly and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.


1/4 Turn Counter Clockwise

Pull Out Old # 2827 Bulb

Test New Low Beam
To remove the amber colored side marker light bulb, rotate the black base 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the headlight assembly.

Pull the old # 2827 side marker bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new 2827bulb.

Re-install the bulb and socket into the headlight assembly before rotating it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.


Test New High Beam Bulb

Test Turn Signal & Sidemarker

Parking Light By High Beam
Test the new bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams.
