Getting a SNAP (Food Stamps) or TANF (Families First) application

To pick up an application at the county office, please use the Family Assistance Office locator to locate your county office. You can also have a friend or relative pick up an application and bring it to you.

To have an application mailed to you, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287. You can also use the Family Assistance Office locator to contact your county office. It is important to confirm that the office has your correct address.

To print an application at home, please access the online application in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Somali. Once you print your application, fill out the information to the best of your knowledge and provide the completed application to your county office by mail, fax, or in-person. Please use the Family Assistance Office locator to locate the address and/or fax number of your county office.

Appointment times

If you missed your appointment and were asked to reschedule, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287 as soon as possible.

If you would like to change your appointment time, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311- 4287 prior to your appointment time.

If your appointment time arrived and you did not receive a phone call, there may be an issue with your appointment time. To check the status of your appointment, please use the Family Assistance Office locator to contact your county office. You can also call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287.

Checking SNAP (Food Stamps) or TANF (Families First) case status

To check the status of your case, you may use CaseConnect on the One DHS Customer Portal, or you may call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287. If possible, be prepared to provide your case number and/or Social Security Number to the phone representative so that they can quickly access your case information.

If you do not already have a One DHS account, you will need to create one to access services (e.g. CaseConnect).

Additionally, you may also use the Family Assistance Office locator to contact your county office.

Confirming verification status

Your case manager has up to 10 days to process your verifications. To check whether or not your case manager received and processed your verifications, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287.

Reporting a lost, damaged, or stolen EBT card

To get a new EBT card ordered, please call the EBT Customer Service Center at 1 (888) 997-9444. It is important to confirm that the address they have listed for you is correct.

Changing your address/transferring your case

To change your address or transfer your case, please call the Family Assistance Service Center at 1 (866) 311-4287. It is important to confirm that the office has your correct address.

Additionally, you may also use the Family Assistance Office locator to notify your county office.

What happens to your SNAP (Food Stamps) or TANF (Families First) benefits after moving out of Tennessee

If you no longer live in the state that issues your benefits, you need to report your move to your county office. You are no longer eligible to continue receiving benefits from Tennessee if you move; however, you can still use any EBT benefits that remain on your card.

DTA Connect

DTA Connect is a mobile app for DTA clients. It is free and can be downloaded for iPhones at the App store or for Androids on Google play. DTA Connect can be used on a smartphone or tablet (such as an iPad).
Once the app is downloaded, you can log in and see:

  • Your case status, monthly benefit amount, next benefit issue date, EBT card balance and recertification due date.
  • Alerts including upcoming appointments or deadlines. 
  • Copies of DTA notices sent in the previous 90 days.
  • If DTA processed documents you recently submitted.

You can also use DTA Connect to communicate with DTA including:

  • Send DTA documents by taking a picture in the app. These documents go directly to your case record! This is the fastest way of getting DTA documents.
  • Ask DTA for a letter that verifies the amount of benefits you get.
  • Tell DTA about a new address or phone number.
  • Opt-in or opt-out of text messages from DTA.

DTAConnect.com online case information portal

DTAConnect.com is a client portal for households that have access to the Internet and an email address. You can see even more information about your SNAP or cash case than on the mobile app.

To set up an account, go to DTAConnect.com. Input your email address, your first name, last name, date of birth, and then create a password. You will be asked for one of the following to log in and see your case information:

  • Your SNAP Web Application Number,
  • DTA Agency ID (listed on all DTA notices),
  • Your Social Security Number, OR
  • Your EBT Card Number

Information on DTAConnect.com includes:

Case status, monthly benefit amount, next benefit issue date, EBT card balance, and recertification due date.

  • The names of other household members.
  • The amount and date of all benefits issued.
  • Copies of DTA notices going back 18 months.
  • List of documents received by DTA in the past 18 months with document type, status, and date received.
  • Ability to submit verifications online.

You can print out information about your monthly benefits to give to another program.

How long does it take to get your EBT card in the mail in California?

You should usually receive your new card in the mail within five days (excluding Sundays and holidays). What do I do if I suspect someone has stolen benefits from my EBT account?

How can I find out if my GA EBT card has been mailed?

How long does it take to get EBT card in mail in PA?

580.61 Card Issuance EBT ACCESS cards should be issued centrally except for Expedited SNAP benefits, Authorized Representative cards, secondary cards, emergency situations, or the card is damaged. The CAO must tell the client that it will take seven to ten days to receive a centrally issued EBT ACCESS card.
