So pretty much, Sony told me someone else had already used the code on my card, despite me only opening it yesterday. And, despite the fact I have a receipt and the original card, they apparently "can't do anything" and I should "contact my retailer".

First off, this is bull that anyone can steal my code at all. I'm guessing that people just input codes continuously until they get a hit. Now, some jerk has my $50. You know what I did with my last $50 card? I bought a PS+ subscription, which was apparently necessary for a "better online experience". Between this incident and my experiences playing online, I think I might be due a refund. Just because the Xbone is failing, it doesn't mean you can rest easy Sony. Pick up your game.

Anyway, does anyone have experience with something like this? I really don't want to buy another one, they're quite expensive. What can I do?

If the cards not activated by a retailer when they put in the code, it won't work. So if someone else did manage to get your code, they must have claimed it from the time you bought it to the time you tried to enter it.

You "might" need Sony to send you a letter if it was SOMEHOW claimed before you bought it based on the recipe, otherwise it'll be hard to prove that you didn't use it, I can see getting a refund going either way. Good Luck.

Go to the retailer and tell them the card wasn't activated when you purchased it and would either like it activated or switched... whatever works.

so if that really did happen, it would have to be someone who works there...that's the only thing i can think of. was the card already scratched off?

I bought some psn card from a local store because they had them on sale and being that I am broke it seemed like a good opportunity. I assumed they could activate them and stuff as they were selling them, but after I tried to enter them I get the error WX-40355-7. I have done some research and discovered that means they were not activated at the store. This store is like a discount Mart so I know they can't activate them. What should my next course of action be? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Edit: I have discovered that the store bought them from a target as they still have target barcodes on them. Do you think they could activate them? I'm worried about being able to return it as I have all ready scratched the code.
