I'm currently re-reading PoA to my kids and we just got to the part about Gryffindor playing Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin in the first Quidditch match of the season. Wood is discussing how Hufflepuff has a new seeker this year, a 5th year named Cedric Diggory. He even points him out to Harry at one point, so I would take this to mean that he has never met and/or heard of Cedric. My question is this, if Cedric is brand new to the team, how was he also named the Team Captain? Maybe I don't know enough about "sports", but wouldn't a Team Captain likely not be a brand new player? Robert Pattinson might be about to play Batman.
