Top reviews from the United States Stella CarrierReviewed in the United States on December 23, 2021 5.0 out of 5 stars Luckily A Bargain Price For What I See In This FilmVerified purchase This film Harry & Meghan A Royal Romance features what appears to be in the film sort of the rollercoaster type of love story ride involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and featuring the multiple people in their lives who have been privy to their life story. The slight caveat is that the story only features very brief references to how both of their previous romantic lives were before meeting each other. I mainly say this even with I being glad to have purchased this film because it would have injected increased excitement andor suspense at featuring at least some of the previous partners who might have indirectly influenced how both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were depicted interacting with each other in the film both at the start of meeting each other and afterwards, plus this would have provided more insight into why the characters of Prince William and Kate Middleton were depicted communicating what they were shown conveying in the film to Prince Harry and how conducted they (Prince William and Kate Middleton) conducted themselves around Meghan Markle. Looking past that caveat, the film Harry & Meghan A Royal Romance is a heartfelt love story type of film to watch and it is uncanny the physical resemblance of the actor and actress are in playing Prince Harry (Murray Fraser) and Meghan Markle (Parisa Fritz Henley). Making a persuasive movie about figures currently in the public eye is always a challenge, but here Parisa Fitz-Henry and Murray Fraser are ideal as the titular couple; Laura Mitchell is gorgeous and convincing as the Duchess of Cambridge; and everyone else is aptly cast (though the actor who plays Prince Charles sounds much more like James Mason than Charles). The costumes and settings are pretty indeed, and the poignant, piano-based soundtrack is a definite plus (even the pop-song selections in the film were well chosen). The screenplay is a nicely plotted "girl meets boy/girl loses boy/girl wins boy back" one. The only problem comes with the dialogue, which is seldom subtle and contains countless "cringey" lines. 5.0 out of 5 stars True Romance!Verified purchase This is such a feel-good movie! I've watched it several times and I smile all the way through! These two people are such shining examples of having faith and love! I love how they are both so aware of their roles on this earth and how they have decided that their lives are about helping those in need! The scenes with her and her Mother just proved that what I always expected..., Her Mom's has been a strong influence regarding Meg's ethics and morals and expectations for her human mankind and that Doria Ragland is a phenomenal woman! When she calls Meg "Flower" my heart just melts! I think it's wonderful that Harry, who lost his Mum so early, will have Doria Ragland as a Mother-In-Law! These two actors should have been put on a long term contract for upcoming movies! Someone in the production unit blinked! The other movies are okay, but these two actors were the best! They exuded their essence! I sincerely hope if there are more movies they will get these two actors to portray Harry and Meghan again! It is romantic with some sweet, funny and endearing moments- This film reminds me why I admire both Harry and Meghan in real life. I thought the casting of the leads was excellent- they had great chemistry and made me forget they were only portraying this lovely couple. Most of the rest of the cast was really great too. I thought the casting of Kate was really good as well. I thought the writing was really good, I loved their first meeting which really set the tone for Meghan's self-confidence, sense of humor and maturity which quickly allowed us to fall for her as Harry did. I think the only thing truly missing was the all important lead male bare chest moment that seems to be in just about all Lifetime romance stories! Despite this, I would watch it again. It was fun! 2 people found this helpful milleronReviewed in the United States on May 27, 2018 3.0 out of 5 stars Has some sad scripting errorrs but enjoys good casting and does tell the story of how the couple got togetherVerified purchase I'd give the film two stars, but the great casting led me to an additional star. The script was almost too cheesy to stand in many places. For example, there were at least four or five times when actors referred to Harry as "The Prince of England." I find it utterly implausible that
not a single soul involved with the movie's production would know that this title is ridiculous and insulting. I had to roll my eyes and groan. There were TWO scenes in which Harry comes virtually face to face with a lion, which roars and then just turns around and walks away. I'm almost positive that these were pure fiction that added nothing to the film other than another eye roll and groan. The conversations in which Prince Charles explains royal duty to his son contain lessons which Harry
would have understood perfectly by the time he was a teenager. They'd never have occurred in the context of discussing his plans at age 32. They added some needed context for American viewers, but again: eye rolls and groans. 3 people found this helpful CassdogReviewed in the United States on June 8, 2018 5.0 out of 5 stars The power of love can conquer anything.Verified purchase I absolutely loved this movie. I have seen it at least 8 times at this point, as I just can't get enough, so I was more than happy to purchase it. I personally liked the range of emotion that the characters were allowed to display in the movie. Whether or not Harry and Meghan actually had the tense moments portrayed in the film, we will never know, however I do believe the message the film makers were trying to send is the power of love, and how transformative and healing it is. As a Psychologist, I was pleased that the film did include the vulnerabilities of two people with their fair share of challenges, who chose to come together because they realize their love for one another has the power to comfort and heal the other. Harry has been open and very public about his battles with mental illness, and the movie did a nice job in helping to understand the challenges of a young boy who had to grieve his mother in a very public way. It was good to see William show some vulnerability in the film as well. This was an excellent movie with believable characters. Bravo to all who were involved in the making of the film. 8 people found this helpful See all reviews |
