Ojulari has been receiving treatment on his injured ankle and is uncertain to play Sunday against Indianapolis, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Ojulari had an early exit against Minnesota on Saturday as a result of hurting his ankle in the second quarter, though he still made an impact in the contest with a sack of Kirk Cousins. Because X-rays on the ankle came back negative, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, Ojulari appears to have escaped a major injury. His ability to take the field Week 17 versus the Colts will likely be determined by his participation level in practice this week.

And while neither team's playoff chances take as big of a hit as a loss would have been, the finish with Graham Gano's 58-yard field goal falling short as time expired in overtime certainly felt anti-climactic.

The Giants had a chance to take a huge step forward in their push for the playoffs.

Now they'll likely be fighting an uphill climb the rest of the way.

The New York Giants and the Washington Commanders will face off again in two weeks that will likely define their seasons and go a long way in determining if either of the NFC East rivals will be heading to the playoffs.

This is the first tie between the Giants and Washington since 1997.

The Giants (7-4-1) had lost three of four games, but everything still lies in front of them. They entered Sunday as the sixth seed in the NFC, but faced a daunting final six games against the most difficult slate record-wise in the league.

Washington (7-5-1), meanwhile, had won six of its last seven, and currently stands as the seventh seed.

Keep checking back throughout the day for live updates and analysis.

Halftime: And we've got a ball game

Ron Rivera likely would've been criticized even more harshly if Washington went for it on fourth-and-inches early in the second quarter and did not get the first down. The Commanders led 10-3 and were at their own 34 when Rivera - who earned the nickname "Riverboat Ron" for his aggressive ways in Carolina - opted to punt the ball away.

The Giants were just scrambling to stay in the game at that point, and struggling to handle Washington's interior run game with rookie Brian Robinson Jr. A punt in that spot felt like a win for Big Blue, and the Giants attacked on the first play with a 55-yard completion from Daniel Jones to Darius Slayton.

Four plays later, Saquon Barkley cut off a nifty block by right guard Mark Glowinski, who cleared out Daron Payne, and raced into the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown. Graham Gano's second field goal of the first half with two seconds left in the second quarter knotted things up.

Slow start puts Big Blue in early hole

The one thing the Giants can not afford is turnovers, and when Daniel Jones coughed up the football on the game's opening drive, it was not what they needed. It was just Jones' third lost fumble of the season, but those miscues were not prevalent when the Giants were winning games.

Washington took advantage of a missed tackle by Fabian Moreau on third down - he was singled up against star wide receiver Terry McLaurin - and McLaurin spun away for the touchdown.

Inactives

The Giants will not have WR Kenny Golladay. He was a late add to the injury report with an illness and listed as questionable. Now he's inactive, as is cornerback Darnay Holmes, who was limited all week with a shoulder injury. That's the reason rookie Zyon Gilbert was elevated from the practice squad Saturday.

The Giants will also be without tight end Lawrence Cager, who is inactive. They signed Nick Vannett to the active roster on Saturday.

For Washington, star pass rusher Chase Young will not play. He's inactive.

Giants: Joshua Ezeudu, Adoree' Jackson, Golladay, Holmes, G Shane Lemieux, Cager, LB Elerson Smith

Commanders: WR Dax Milne, CB Benjamin St-Juste, LB De'Jon Harris, G Chris Paul, G Trai Turner, Chase Young
