The Walking Dead in drie delen geknipt

Mede door de pandemie is het een ware puzzel als het gaat om de slotseizoenen van The Walking Dead. Het tiende seizoen werd qua hoofdverhaal vroegtijdig afgerond toen de pandemie verdere opnames onmogelijk maakte, om daarna er juist een langer seizoen van te maken dankzij een aantal losstaande episodes. De makers besloten daarop een elfde en laatste seizoen te maken die zelfs uit 24 afleveringen zou bestaan. Deze werden echter dan wel in drie losse delen gelanceerd.

Flinke tijd wachten

Door deze spreiding, en de tijd die er tussen de release in de Verenigde Staten en Netflix zit, is het telkens er lang wachten. De eerste acht afleveringen van seizoen 11 werden in de Verenigde Staten van 15 augustus tot en met 3 oktober 2021 uitgezonden. Op Netflix kwamen deze op 22 augustus 2022, een jaar later dus. Deel 2 was te zien in Amerika van 13 februari tot en met 3 april en het derde deel is nu dus te zien in oktober en november 2022. Netflix heeft geen officiële data bekendgemaakt. Het ligt echter in de lijn der verwachting dat het tweede deel in het voorjaar van 2023 verschijnt en de finale afleveringen in het najaar van 2023. Bij series die waren afgerond werd in het verleden de release op Netflix nog wel eens versneld, maar hier is ten aanzien van The Walking Dead vooralsnog niets over bekend.
