What are the side effects of neomycin and polymyxin B sulfates and dexamethasone?For eye drops. Burning, dry, itching eyes.. discharge, excessive tearing.. eye redness, irritation, or pain.. increase in blood flow to the whites of the eyes.. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid.. What infections does neomycin treat?Neomycin, an antibiotic, is used to prevent or treat skin infections caused by bacteria. It is not effective against fungal or viral infections. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
How long do you leave neomycin in your ear?Drop the prescribed number of drops into the ear canal. Keep the ear facing up for about 5 minutes to allow the medicine to coat the ear canal. (For young children and other patients who cannot stay still for 5 minutes, try to keep the ear facing up for at least 1 or 2 minutes.)
