When is the best time to take a pregnancy test?

How soon you take a pregnancy test depends on your normal menstrual cycle. If your period is fairly regular (every 28 to 32 days), you can take a pregnancy test a couple of days after your missed period.

If your periods are normally irregular, it is best to wait for at least a week after your missed period. At-home tests are fairly reliable, but some women take them too soon or don’t follow the directions. You can receive free pregnancy testing at Hope Unlimited Family Care Center. Schedule your appointment today.

Why do I need an ultrasound?

An ultrasound will help detect some important information about your health and your pregnancy. You learn 3 important things from an ultrasound:

  • How far along you are in your pregnancy
  • If the pregnancy is viable (possibly over 20% of all known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage)
  • Where the pregnancy is located (if it’s located outside of your uterus, it’s potentially life-threatening)

At Hope Unlimited Family Care Center, we will perform your on-site ultrasound. A physician will then review the results to determine if your pregnancy is in the uterus, determine how long you’ve been pregnant, and check the heartbeat.

If I am pregnant, what should I do next?

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy with free pregnancy testing and ultrasound, it’s time to discuss your options. You have three, abortion, making an adoption plan, or parenting. We want you to have as much information on each option as possible. Our goal is that you would come away from your visit confident in your knowledge and empowered in your decision.

Ultrasound - Know for Sure

It is important to know the status of your pregnancy. Most pregnancy tests are very reliable, however, to diagnose and confirm the status of your pregnancy an ultrasound is needed.

An ultrasound near Arlington & Grand Prairie can provide you with two very important pieces of information when considering your decision.
  1. It will tell you how far along you are in the pregnancy.
  2. It will tell you if the pregnancy is viable. Meaning, one that will continue under normal circumstances because 1 in 5 pregnancies end naturally through miscarriage.

Pregnancy Help 4U does not charge for an ultrasound near Arlington & Grand Prairie. We offer this free service because we believe you should have an ultrasound to confirm the viability of your pregnancy, and not be put under any obligation when receiving the ultrasound. We do not profit from the decision you make.

You deserve the latest information on abortion procedures, risks, and pregnancy options before your abortion.  Pregnancy Help 4U’s Medical Team supports informed consent and a woman’s right to know all her options about any procedure she may be considering.  All these services are provided Free of Charge in a Confidential, Private, Caring environment.

How much does a pregnancy test cost?

All pregnancy services are provided for free. Our goal is to empower and educate you about your sexual health as well as be a resource for those difficult moments.

What type of pregnancy test do you use?

We use a urine hCG physician-grade test. This is highly accurate and can detect hormones in the urine as soon as possible. Results will be available in 3-5 minutes.

How long will the appointment take?

Similar to seeing your family physician, please allow at least an hour and half for a pregnancy appointment. We also encourage you to come 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete all necessary paperwork. The appointment includes a complimentary session with a counselor and optional follow-up ultrasound if your test is positive.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance at Hope Clinic. All our pregnancy services are free and our women’s healthcare is provided at a nominal fee and our professional counseling is provided on a sliding scale. It is always our goal to make our services as affordable as possible and we are able to do that through donations rather than collecting from insurance.

What is options counseling?

At the beginning of your appointment you will meet with a counselor to discuss all your options (Parenting, Adoption, Abortion*). This will give you a few precious moments to relax, breathe, and process what a positive or negative test may feel like for you. Our goal is to create a safe space for you to bring fears, joys, frustrations, and doubts. Don’t be afraid to ask questions at any point during your appointment and especially during the options counseling.

You may be asking yourself:
  • What are my parents going to think?
  • How can I afford this?
  • What about my other kids?
  • What about my partner?
  • What about school? Or work?
  • Am I healthy?

*While we do not perform or refer for abortions we are able to provide medically accurate information regarding all procedures and options.

Is it confidential?

Yes, our clinic strongly values confidentiality. We aim to create a safe and completely confidential environment to protect both your privacy and safety. Can I just get an ultrasound?

Traditionally we provide ultrasounds for mothers who have tested positive with Hope Clinic. This free service is provided as a way to detect fetal heartbeat, fetal age, and approximate due date. We are not able to provide gender information as part of our scope of care and are not able to provide one-off diagnostic ultrasounds. If you are in need of more diagnostic ultrasound care we would be happy to refer you to one of our partner OB/GYNs.

What if I have been assaulted?

If you have been sexually assaulted that you fear may or may not result in a pregnancy, we recommend contacting The SAFE Clinic at 615-258-5888 within 120 hours after the assault. The clinic is staffed 24/7, but calling ahead will result in fewer delays in services after business hours.  This center is best equipped to address your initial physical, emotional, and legal needs regarding the assault. You do not need to contact law enforcement if that is not preferred. They provide free education, information, and medical care. To contact, please call 615-258-5888 or visit their center at: 101 French Landing Dr, Nashville, TN 37228.

Can I have an ultrasound without a referral?

No, you do not need a referral from your Doctor as 3D/4D ultrasound is performed as an elective request, and does not replace your routine medical/diagnostic scans requested by your doctor.

How early can you get an ultrasound?

Most practitioners wait until at least 6 weeks to perform the first pregnancy ultrasound. However, a gestational sac can be seen as early as 4 1/2 weeks after your last period, and a fetal heartbeat can be detected at 5 to 6 weeks (though that isn't always the case).

How many times do you get an ultrasound during pregnancy?

Most healthy women receive two ultrasound scans during pregnancy. "The first is, ideally, in the first trimester to confirm the due date, and the second is at 18-22 weeks to confirm normal anatomy and the sex of the baby," explains Mendiola.

Can I get an ultrasound at 5 weeks?

You may see the gestational sac in an ultrasound as early as 4 1/2 to 5 weeks. The gestational sac increases in diameter by 1.13 mm per day and initially measures 2 to 3 mm in diameter, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information .
