Titan oil stop leak reviews

I have a 2003 Cadillac Deville with a decent oil leak from several locations (Northstar engine).

I've read some pretty good stuff about Titan Oil Stop Leak, but it is pretty dang pricey ($110ish for the amount I need). Which is way cheaper than the repair costs to actually correct the problem and terrible design.

Does anyone have any experience with this product?

Don't waste your money, if it is leaking oil it needs gaskets/seals replaced, and if it is leaking from crank seals it may need actual bearings/crank replaced..there is no miracle cure for oil leaks short of tearing it down and replacing bad gaskets/seals....

On a positive note you never have to change oil.

Northstar engines are notorious for this problem.  The gasket system was flawed in all of them.  Unless he can do the work himself, he'll spend more than the car is worth paying someone to do it for him.  It's my understanding that you basically have to pull the motor and reseal everything with aftermarket updated seals and gaskets.

If it was me, I'd sell the car for whatever I could get.

More than couple of spots. Enough that something has to be done. And repairs are likely more than the car is worth.

It seems like a bad idea... but think about it.  The day before you changed your oil, it was good enough to lubricate the engine.

It's not just he loss of the oil.  The leaking oil tends to eventually damage other systems on the car.

apparently you have never driven a car for 20,000 miles with a leaky rear main and a blown head gasket.

by the time a car gets that bad, you dont care about the other systems.

Try some Lucas. It is cheap compared to the stuff you mentioned and I have used it to stop slow leaks and slow down worse leaks.

If its bad yes nothing short of a mechanical repair will fix it but I have had good results with Lucas. Also try conventional oil if you're using Syn or a Syn Blend.

I wasn't clear.  On many Cadillacs using the Northstar engine, the oil leaks can and do damage various systems.  I've had many old cars that weep oil, but besides oil spots in the garage you can live with it.  That's not the case with certain Cadillacs with this engine.

I know something about it because my FIL had one he loved.  It was 1993 Cadillac allante, he spent a fortune on that POS.

The Northstar engines all leak.
Some more than others.
Maintain oil level or risk engine damage.
Your call, $5.00 a week on oil or $0000's on attempted
repairs.
Don't park in your friends driveway.

Sad fact of life, most of the USA-built & designed motors leak oil because the mfgrs don't want to take the time(time is money BS) to design a good one. My wife's old Camary never leaked a drop of oil in 300,000 miles. If it is only a quart or so every 3000-4,000 miles, forget the treatment, by you probably need to change it or just throw in another quart; just put something to catch the dripping oil. I am not familiar with the oil treatment mentioned, but most of them contain some kind of ingredient that causes the seals to swell.
