Music floods Union Park as dozens of performers rock out at the annual Pitchfork Music Festival. Headliners include The National and Parquet Courts (Friday), Mitski and Japanese Breakfast (Saturday), and The Roots and Toro y Moi (Sunday).

2. Listen up

Performers, musicians and dancers bring the Bard’s words to life in ShakesFest: A Chicago Shakespeare Community Cabaret. The musical revue riffs on Shakespeare’s most familiar lines in unexpected ways.

Hunt for unique finds at Vintage Garage Chicago from 75 vendors, featuring home décor, vintage threads, furniture, jewelry, toys and more.

4. Unwind

Settle in for an evening of groovy tunes at the Chicago Latin Jazz Festival. Organizers encourage BYO lawn chairs and picnics to the al fresco fest.

5. Pig out

Handmade tortillas filled with pork, steak, chorizo and chile rellenos (drool.) are among the mouthwatering dishes on the menu at Tacos y Tamales Festival. Mariachi music, Latin pop rock, dance performances and local art installations are also on tap.

6. Tap

Described by organizers as the oldest and most comprehensive festival of tap, Chicago’s International Festival of American Tap returns with performances by Jumaane Taylor, Ali Bradley and more.

7. Traipse

Colorful winged lemurs, two-headed dogs and rabbit kangaroos are among the giant pieces you’ll see on the guided Alebrijes Art Walks. Wanna know more before you go? Check out “Latino Voices” story about the fantastical artworks.

8. Muse

Celebrate the centennial anniversary of legendary Italian soprano Renata Tebaldi at “Renata Tebaldi @100” as part of the Opera Festival of Chicago. Get a behind-the-scenes look at Tebaldi’s life and enjoy musical selections by Verdi, Puccini, Cilea and Giordano.

9. Groove

Move to the beat at the Mas Flow Reggaeton Festival, featuring performances by Zion & Lennox (Friday), Don Omar (Saturday) and Tego Calderon (Sunday) and dozens of other artists.

10. Chomp

Local eateries fire up the grills at Roscoe Village Burger Fest, where they’ll be serving up their finest patties and competing to be named best burger. Cast your vote once you’ve had your fill. Live music, arts and crafts, and kids activities round things out.
