Bulgaria is known as the land of roses. There is an area in central Bulgaria near the city of Kazanluk called the Rose Valley. Rosa Damascena grows there and it blossoms just for 3 weeks at the end of May and beginning of June. People from all over the world gather in the valley. The local municipality organizes Rose Festival with a lot of events for a whole month. One of the most pleasant activities is to go to a rose field and pick roses by yourself.

If you miss the Rose Festival you can try Rosa Damascena tea and Rosa Damascena jam in Les Fleurs Botique Hotel in the center of Sofia during the whole year. There you can also try a piece of cake with rose jam :) They also sell rose jam and rose tea as well as hand-made jewelry with roses from Rosey's mark, the brand which organizes the tasting.
