Season 4 of what we do in the shadows

What We Do in the Shadows season 4 spoilers follow.

What We Do in the Shadows star Mark Proksch and show producer Paul Simms have shared the details on the season four finale plot twists.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the pair discussed the episode, specifically Proksch's character Colin Robinson, his rebirth and his journey to rediscover his memories and becoming an adult once again.

"I think it was the idea of covering the whole life cycle from baby to adult in a very compressed way. We wanted to try to hit all the developmental marks," Simms said, regarding Colin's rapid journey from baby back to adult.

At the end of season three, it was revealed that energy vampire Colin had come to the end of his 100-year lifecycle, which saw his character 'die' and be reborn as an infant.

In season four, Colin then underwent a process of rapidly ageing back up before ultimately rediscovering his energy vampire history and growing into a full adult again.

"I think we did a good job at giving fans what they wanted, as far as enough time with a developing Colin Robinson," Proksch said regarding his character's season four arc.

"I think they'll be happy that regular Colin Robinson is back as much as I was. But it was great playing [him]. It definitely breathed a lot of new life into the character for me."

The pair also gave details on another key storyline in the finale, which involved Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) becoming a vampire and what fans can expect to see next from the character.

"Guillermo has had this dream for so long, and it's what's kept him around. But also, he's such a cautious character," Simms said.

"All through this season, we saw him trying to look out for himself a little more, including embezzling money from the nightclub. It was just the idea of seeing such a cautious character make such a rash decision. Even without knowing the details, we know it's not going to go perfectly as planned. That was the fun of it."

What We Do in the Shadows season 4 airs on FX in the US, and on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
