  • This museum covers the history, culture, and art of African -Americans in a comprehensive and beautiful way. The bottom level takes you from Africans arriving to the U.S. as slaves to President Obama's election. When I visited the museum, the line was long for this area and once inside it was crowded. The upper levels cover culture, and art. It is definitely worth a visit. Plan to spend 3-4 hours.

  • The capitol is only available on a planned visit and you just see parts of it. This is understandable given it's recent past and the position of the elected officials but it leaves no room for wandering around and exploring.

  • Time to revisit this photo we look in December 2013 of what looks like the ghost of a soldier walking behind our 3 granddaughters (gray figure). We had just been to the WW2 Memorial, and the figure looks like it is wearing a helmet and flack jacket. Photos taken by other members of our family at the same time show no one in gray behind or around them. Just an old soldier passing by, we guessed.

  • I feel so fortunate to have visited this art museum. I actually went twice - once for the west building and its traditional master piece artworks (including some great Impressionist works) and once to view the east building and its more contemporary works. The buildings are well-planned, the flow is very good to navigate. And. both times I had room, even in front of famous works, to savor and ponder. All this for free - I highly recommend a visit.

  • Highly recommended. Very somber experience. The museum includes a lot of photos and written text to read and learn. I wish it contained more artifacts; can't compare to the 9/11 Museum in NYC (which includes thousands of artifacts).

  • The Library of Congress is quite simply my favorite building in the world. I absolutely love it and try to go every time I am in Washington DC.

  • I have been looking forward the Destination Moon exhibit ever since they announced it. I am huge early space program enthusiast and this was worth the trip to DC.

The exhibit is a great dive into the early history of our fascination of the moon, the early days of Mercury and Gemini, then right into the Apollo program. It's a great intro for anyone who wants to learn more and definitely worth checking out for all lovers of space.

A nice bonus is the original Enterprise model from the original series as well as cool and engaging exhibits for all to enjoy.

  • A memorial to all the very many men that died in Vietnam. So sad to see such a pointless loss of life.

  • This is one monument that tugs at your heart. The sculptor caught the expressions on each soldier's face and captured what being in a fight is really like.

  • I loved this museum. Great portraits. I only had about 2 hours there and it was not enough. I need to return to see sections I missed.

  • Don't let the topic or some of the bad press turn you off from a great experience. Although it is a religious topic, the museum is remarkably non-religious. One doesn't have to believe in the Bible or know anything about he Bible to have an enjoyable visit. The presentations of the Old and New Testaments are particularly well done. The exhibit about a 20th century Chinese martyr (Watchman Nee) is very moving, rare for a any museum to include anything about Chinese, or even Asian contributions/influence on the world. The restaurant serves surprisingly excellent food. Fly through buildings in Washington Revelations--woth the extra money if you don't get motion sickness. The price of admission is high compared to all the free stuff in D.C. but you can tell that no expense was spared to create a great museum and memorable visit.

  • The Washington Monument is iconic and impressive in the daylight as well as the night time. I regret that we did not get to ride the elevator to the top. You can apply the day before to get them, but I didn't know this. We rode bikes at night to the monument and it was beautiful. It is definitely one of the things you want to do while in Washington DC.
