Having just unveiled her new orange hair color, BLACKPINK‘s Jennie headed to Los Angeles to celebrate her “Jentle Garden” pop-up with Gentle Monster.

The K-pop star arrived at the eyewear brand’s flagship store in Downtown LA, wearing a strapless LBD with lace-up heels to put all focus on her mid-back length hair. “I can definitely feel that ‘Jentle Garden’ has a different atmosphere under this dazzling bright LA sunshine,” the artist said in a video.

She further explained her look, which featured the “Lesyeuxdenini 02” embellished with gems all over. “It means ‘the eyes of Nini’ in French,” she elaborated, adding that the frames are accompanied by custom packaging with a crystal keyring.

Marking its second collaboration with South Korean rapper-singer Jennie of BLACKPINK, Gentle Monster presents an eyewear collection inspired by the beauty of a blooming garden.

Enter “Jentle Garden,” a collection of eyewear including three optical frames and three sunglasses in an assortment of cat-eye and oversize rectangular silhouettes clad in marbleized acetate. Highlighted in the collection are the standalone “Lesyeuxdenini 02,” oval-shaped frames adorned with glimmering crystal stones. A metallic silver emblem distinguishes the lineup.

Envisioned by one of K-POP’s biggest stars, Gentle Monster launches an accompanying experiential fantasy realm imagined through cotton candy-colored houses and beds of blossoming flowers. The pop-up installations will grace five cities: Seoul, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. Delicate rock formations and floating clouds accent the fairytale-like atmosphere, with a pink lake running throughout the custom-designed villas.

The campaign lookbook, featuring BLACKPINK’s Jennie shot by Paris-based photographer Hugo Comte, captures the K-POP personality in ethereal digitized environments replete with falling flower petals and liquidized textures. Fans can grow their own virtual garden with Jennie through the “Jentle Garden Game,” where contestants can compete for exclusive “Jentle Garden” bundles.

Consumers who shop the collection at the pop-up will be gifted with special flowers. The “Fruits of Paradise” collection offers a limited curation of frames in custom boxes signed by Jennie.

“Jentle Garden” is now live on Gentle Monster’s home website.

Updates after the Jentle Garden Collection Launch

This was the second time that Gentle Monster’s website crashed after releasing Jennie’s collection. Her first collaboration, Jentle Home, also had the same effect when it was released. I was online when the release of Jentle Garden happened and saw a lot of people tweeting that they couldn’t access the site and some urged others who have finished shopping and browsing to leave the site so others can access it.

the way gentle monster's website crashed one min after jentle garden collection launched and is now sold out both online and offline, THE POWER JENNIE HOLDS pic.twitter.com/MkoRVg0yXP

A little bit of context for the next tweet, when Gentle Monster released the campaign posters for Jentle Garden ahead of its release, Jennie was attending Chanel’s Fall-Winter 22/23 RTW show in Paris and when the collection was released, she was attending Jacquemus’ spring/summer 2022 show in Hawaii. I believe she did not post anything on her Instagram relating to the campaign on both days (she did on later dates) but Jentle Garden was still a trending topic online even without Jennie promoting her collaboration on the day of the release. I remembered there were so many new Jennie contents online during those couple of days that it kind of sent Blinks on twitter into a frenzy.

jennie living her best life in jacquemus hawaii show & after party, meeting dream artists from her spotify lists and covers like daniel caesar & jhene aiko and at the same time self-designed jentle garden line released, website crashed, items sold out, restocked and sold out again

— َ’beg for me’ akgae (@JNK1RIGHTS) March 10, 2022

It is well-known by now that whatever product Jennie is endorsing or even just seen wearing will probably quickly sold out regardless of the price of the products.

jennie easily sold out $259-$480 glasses, online and in-store, in a short period of time after the official release of the jentle garden collection, her impact is actually insane

— lana 💐 (@jensatan) March 10, 2022

I personally always find the behind the scenes interesting, including this order fulfillment process which I haven’t seen before (or maybe I just don’t browse TikTok enough).

It’s amazing to see that the collection is not only sold-out in Korea but in other locations as well. I mean, to be honest, I would’ve copped a pair too if my face actually fit Gentle Monster’s glasses. But sadly, after many, many times of trying multiple pairs hoping and wishing that I will find a pair that’ll fit me well, Gentle Monster glasses seem to be a tad big for my face.

On April 12, 2022, Gentle Monster announced an exclusive bag and key ring for Lesyeuxdenini 02 on their weibo account.

Jentle Garden Construction Behind the Scenes

Jentle Garden Campaign Materials

I personally think in every amazing campaign, some of the vendors who work behind the scenes creating the work of art are usually under appreciated. Since I managed to find out some of the vendors involved, here’s a shout out to them for their amazing works.

The Gentle Monsters team uses 3D printing for the diorama. The printing was done by Gluck Lab in Hongdae.
