I was excited to see the โ€œCโ€ appended to the model name. I just assumed that the DGB-800 had finally been updated. Wrong, the DGB-800 is still rife with issues. The C stands for Canada. I paid nearly twice MSRP for this unit. The Amazon seller got me good.

The unit failed shortly after I got it and I couldnโ€™t return it to the seller unless it was unused and in the original packaging. Right. Cuisinart is warranting the unit but they wonโ€™t have replacement units until October (thatโ€™s four months out.)

When this coffee maker works, it makes great coffee. HOWEVER, it frequently doesn't. It will start and stop after grinding. I have to restart it, make sure it doesn't grind another batch of beans, and then it may or may not work, often putting up a sign "empty." Do not buy this coffeemaker.

This was my second grind and brew machine since I like to use fresh coffee beans to start my coffee. yesterday, I rinsed the machine , today it can grind the beans but wont make coffee but only hot water. I am very disappoint with this name brand, wont make the purchase again.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great improvement over old style DGB 900

Reviewed in Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ on October 13, 2020

I had the old style Cuisinart grind and brew for about 10 years before it started leaking out the bottom, as many of them did. I bought this as a replacement, and there are some good improvements. The digital read out is bigger and easier to read. The basket compartment is easier to manage and easier to clean. This model now has a heated plate for the carafe which keeps coffee warmer better than the old style insulated carafe. The grinder in this coffee maker is quieter than the old one, which for me is a bit of a problem because I had the old one programmed to start up at 6:30 AM, and I used it as an alarm clock. The noise of the grinding would wake me up, but this new model is quieter and doesn't wake me up. (don't misunderstand.. the grinder still makes a lot of noise; as you would expect when grinding coffee. It makes really good coffee, and I think the "strong" setting on this one is a little stronger than on the old one. My ONLY complaint about this model.. I wish the bean hopper was bigger. I drink a lot of coffee, and end up refilling this about every other day. I'm happy with this coffee maker. As for long term reliability..... time will tell.

3.0 out of 5 stars Customization

Liked the grind and brew but didnโ€™t like that it doesnโ€™t brew 2 or 3 cups , the minimum has to be 4 cups, so if Iโ€™m making a cup just for myself then Iโ€™m wasting half the beans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish i could rely on this coffee maker

Reviewed in Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ on January 26, 2019

Mixed feelings...I want to like it. Mine works exactly how it should 1 out of 4 times. The other 3 times it will either not grind any beans and just heat and start to drip the water, or it will more often then not stop brewing halfway through beep and turn itself off. This means that even the small amount of coffee that it did brew will start to drop in temperature because the hot plate is off. They were really onto something here but did not perfect the design or electronics and when im trying to get out of the door with a full travel mug of coffee i find myself wishing i had a more reliable machine. Also the gold filter has started to tear at the bottom also after a few months of only careful handwash and brewing 5 days a week. Luckily there is a warranty and the company will look into the issues and try to work with me but this also leaves me out a a coffee maker for weeks. When it does work i love everything about it. There are certain things about the design/engineering that I would change.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too tall

A standard kitchen upper is 16 inches above the counter top. This coffee maker is 16.5 inches tall, so it cannot fit in a standard kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as noisy as older models!

Our previous model has worked for us nicely for many years. This electronic version just has too many problems. Frequently when we start it it says no water or words to that effect when in fact new water was just put in. The only way to get it then started is to unplug it for about a minute. The grinder often just doesn't know when to stop and grinds far longer than it did the previous time. Sometimes it even grinds what sounds like a normal duration but then starts grinding again a half second after it had stopped. Although we've had it now for about 3 months, Cusinart eventually sent us a new machine which is working perfectly at this time. We also received a shipping label for the return of the defective unit.
We appreciate that this machine is notably quieter then the older model which we had all of those years.
After a few more months of use I've upgraded my rating from 1 to 5. Too bad that the original machine was defective, the replacement is perfect.

How many scoops of coffee do you put in a Cuisinart coffee maker?

Coffee grounds in a pot consume 70 grams of coffee grounds per cup, which equates to 7 grams. To make eight cups of coffee, we recommend using 14 to 18 tablespoons of ground coffee, 6 ounces of water, and 14 to 18 tablespoons of ground coffee.
