How to Show Transparent GridI’m using Adobe Illustrator CC 2021 version, so there’s actually an option on the Properties panel > Ruler & Grids that I can click and make the artboard transparent.  If this option is not available on your Illustrator version, you can go to the overhead menu and select View > Show Transparent Grid. Or you can use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Command + D.
