A soft reset is an easy way to force restart your Apple iPhone 12 if you are experiencing an issue that has caused it to freeze. With a soft reset, the operating system is rebooted and all services reloaded.

Step 1:

To reboot your phone, press and release the volume up button. Press and release the volume down button. Then, press and hold the Side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until the screen turns off.

Step 2:

Your iPhone will automatically reboot.

If the problem persists, you might want to try doing a ‘factory reset’ to solve the problem. Note: In contrast to a soft reset, with a factory reset all of your apps, settings and data – including contacts and photos – on the device will be deleted.

If you are still having issues with your device, you may need to do a Factory data reset (Master reset). This will reset all settings to their defaults and erase all data stored on iPhone, including your contacts, messages, and music.

Note: iPhone cannot be used while data is being erased. iPhone will instantly and securely erase all data, and then restore settings to their factory defaults. 2. Select General, then scroll to and select Transfer or Reset iPhone.

4. Select Erase All Content and Settings to reset device, then select Continue.

5. Select Finish Upload Then Erase or Erase Now. 

6. Select Erase iPhone to confirm.

Note: If you have a passcode, you will be prompted to enter your passcode to complete the reset. Enter your Apple ID password then select Erase.
