Carolina Reaper Peppers, which are around 1.7 million Scoville Units and Scorpion Pepper which around 1.2 million Scoville Units," Paqui's website says.The trend is not new.Last April a middle school student out of Tyler, Texas, was taken to the hospital after experiencing a severe reaction attempting the challenge, according to Tyler Independent School District.A statement from Paqui reads in part:"At Paqui, we take matters of safety very seriously and have worked hard to ensure our products are properly labeled with allergen and safety information. The Paqui #OneChipChallenge is notoriously hot, as our branding implies, and the product should be handled with extreme care. Our #OneChipChallenge includes a safety disclaimer that it should not be ingested by individuals who are sensitive to spicy foods, allergic to peppers, nightshades, or capsaicin, or who are minors, pregnant or have medical conditions.
