YouTube TV add-ons and premium channels
In addition to the 85+ channels, YouTube TV offers a range of premium add-on networks and entertainment packages. In fact, there are 30 channels that can be added for an additional fee. Among these are Cinemax ($10/mo.), Epix ($6/mo.), HBO Max ($15/mo.), MLB.TV ($27/mo.), NBA League Pass ($40/mo.), Showtime ($11/mo.), and STARZ ($9/mo.).
YouTube TV also allows you to further customize your channel offerings through the addition of two bundles. The Sports Plus package, which includes NFL RedZone, is $11/mo. and has 16 additional sports channels. The Entertainment Plus package is $30/mo. and bundles the premium channels of HBO Max, Showtime, and STARZ.
With YouTube TV, you can upgrade the quality of the service to 4K Plus for an extra $10/mo. This gives you access to 4K Ultra High Definition playback on select live and on-demand programs. Among the networks that offer 4K UHD streaming are Discovery, ESPN, Fox Sports, FX, Nat Geo, NBC Sports, and Tastemade. However, 4K playback is not available on every device. Among the smart TVs that allow 4K streaming are Samsung, LG, and HiSense 4K Smart TVs from 2016 or later; and 4K android models like Sony Bravia. Among the devices you can connect to your regular TV that allow 4K streaming are Chromecast, 4K Roku devices, Apple TV 4K, PS4 Pro, Amazon Fire 4K Stick, and Nvidia Shield.
YouTube TV free trial
The standard YouTube TV free trial is seven days. This is similar to most streaming services such as one of YouTube TV’s competitors, Hulu + Live TV. However, YouTube TV does offer free trials of varying lengths, depending on the service and time of year. For example, through December 16, the service is offering a 14-day free trial. Currently, the standard YouTube TV free trial length for the 4K Plus add-on is 30 days. Additionally, each of the add-on channels and packages may have its own individual free trials.
You can check on the length of the YouTube TV trial being offered by either opening the YouTube TV app on your device or going to the YouTube TV website. From there, you click on your photo in the top right corner and select settings, then membership. You’ll see a list of the free trial offers and the number of days available. Once the free trial is over, the credit card you placed on file to start the free trial will immediately be charged unless you cancel before the trial ends.
You may also be eligible for a free trial through some of YouTube TV’s partners. For example, customers of Verizon 5G, Verizon Fios, or Verizon Wireless can get a 24-hour free trial when they sign up for the Verizon service. This offer is valid for people who had previously signed up for YouTube TV and are no longer eligible for the standard free trial.
With all the holiday specials currently on TV, this is a great time of the year to take advantage of the seven-day free trial. Sports fans may want to wait until the end of the year. In the weeklong period from December 26 through January 1, there are 25 college football games airing on ESPN, ESPN 2, ABC, and CBS. New Year’s Day also features the NHL’s Winter Classic.

$15 for your first month
For a limited time, YouTube TV is offering new subscribers their first month of service for $15. After the first month, the standard rate of $65 per month applies.
Standard free trial + $10 off per month for T-Mobile customers
T-Mobile Wireless and Home Internet customers can take advantage of a special deal that gives them the
standard free trial, along with an additional $10 off per month for 12 months. For a full year, T-Mobile customers can get YouTube TV for $55 per month, as opposed to $65. This offer is valid until December 31, 2021.
Standard free trial + $10 off per month for Frontier customers
Like the deal with T-Mobile, Frontier customers who have their 25 Mbps+ internet service and are new to YouTube TV can get $10 off their monthly service for a full year after their free trial.
This offer is valid through February 28, 2022.
YouTube TV referral program
Through December 17, 2021, current YouTube TV subscribers can get a $20 referral reward for each new subscriber who has never previously used YouTube TV. The new customer also receives a $10 referral reward. Each current subscriber can receive up to 10 referral rewards.
YouTube TV deals compared
YouTube TV’s subscription rate of $65 per month is the same as Hulu + Live TV and fuboTV’s Starter plan. However, the rate for Hulu + Live TV will increase to $70 per month on December 21. Additionally, YouTube TV is more affordable than DIRECTV Stream, which has plans starting at $70 per month for 65+ channels.
