With this generator, you can make worksheets for these pre-algebra and algebra topics (grades 7-9):

  • graphing linear equations, when the equation is given in the slope-intercept form (y = mx + b)
  • graphing linear equations, when the equation is given in the normal form (Ax + By + C = 0)
  • graphing lines, when the slope and one point on it are given
  • telling the slope of a line from its graph
  • telling the slope of a line when given two points on it
  • determining the equation of a line from its graph
  • determining the equation of a line, given its slope and one point on it
  • determining the equation of a line, given its x and y intercepts

The worksheets can be made in PDF or html formats. You can customize them in many ways: You can control the types of problems, the number of problems, including vertical lines, including a fractional slope, the grid image size, maximum for the coordinates (scaling on the grid), workspace, border around the problems, and additional instructions.

All of the worksheets come with an answer key on the 2nd page of the file.

Example worksheets

These are in html format. Refresh the worksheet page to get another of the same kind.

  • Graph linear equations given in slope-intercept form - easy (slope is a whole number)
  • Graph linear equations given in slope-intercept form (slope is a whole number or a fraction)
  • Graph linear equations given in normal form (slope is a whole number or a fraction)
  • Find the slope of the line, either from the given graph, or from the two given points (slope is a whole number)
  • Find the slope of the line, either from the given graph, or from the two given points (slope is a whole number or a fraction)
  • Graph a line with a given slope and point on it OR determine the equation of a line with a given slope and point on it (slope is a whole number)
  • Graph a line with a given slope and point on it OR determine the equation of a line with a given slope and point on it (slope is a whole number or a fraction)
  • Determine the equation of a line when you're given either the graph, the slope and a point on the line, or the x-intercept and y-intercept (slope is a whole number)
  • Determine the equation of a line when you're given either the graph, the slope and a point on the line, or the x-intercept and y-intercept (slope is a whole number or a fraction)

Note: If the coordinate grid image looks like it is missing some gridlines, don't worry. If you zoom in or print the worksheet, you will see all the lines. This is caused by the fact that the coordinate grid images are higher resolution than what your browser can display. I made them that way so that the grid images would look good when printed (print really "crisp".)

Key to Algebra Workbooks

Key to Algebra offers a unique, proven way to introduce algebra to your students. New concepts are explained in simple language, and examples are easy to follow. Word problems relate algebra to familiar situations, helping students to understand abstract concepts. Students develop understanding by solving equations and inequalities intuitively before formal solutions are introduced. Students begin their study of algebra in Books 1-4 using only integers. Books 5-7 introduce rational numbers and expressions. Books 8-10 extend coverage to the real number system.
