Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Open Beta second wave kicks off at 10 AM PT on Thursday, September 22. But, this time Xbox and PC players are joining in the fight. Everyone who has preordered on Xbox and PC will get access to the Beta this week, alongside everyone on PlayStation. The Beta is then opening up to everyone from September 24, and will continue to run until 10 AM PT on Sept 26 (we've got all the precise details below - it also looks like the next Beta period is live early, so you can jump in now.)

Remember, you're getting early access to the Open Beta with your preorder (Xbox and PC), and you don't have to pay anything until the game ships in late October. So you could absolutely preorder, get a beta code, and then cancel your order after the beta finalises if you don't like the game, at no cost. But, if you don't want to preorder, don't worry, as you can still get access to the Open Beta on select days as well. What Time Does the Call of Duty Beta Start?

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta will take place over two weekends this month. The first beta first period runs September 16-20, and is available to PS5 and PS4 owners only (this has ended).

The second weekend kicks off on Thursday, September 22 at 10 AM PT for all users on PlayStation, and those who have preordered on Xbox and PC. You don't need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to participate. If you haven't preordered, you can still join the action on September 24.

How to Redeem Your Call of Duty Beta Code

Here's how you can redeem that handy new Modern Warfare 2 Beta code you've just received. Follow the steps below, and you'll be ready to play by 10 AM PT on Thursday, Sept 22.

(If you've preordered digitally, or you're on PlayStation, the Beta will already be available to you; just search for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta on the relevant digital storefront, and download it.)

• Head to callofduty.com to redeem your beta code
• Log in to an existing profile, or create a new free account.
• Choose the gaming platform you wish to use your code on, alongside the region you live in.
• You will then see a confirmation page if your code is valid - alongside a brand new code to enter on your chosen device.
• Enter the new code on your relevant device's store page, and start the Open Beta download.

Warzone 2 Release Date

Activision and Infinity Ward have announced the first details for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, the successor to the incredibly popular battle royale. Warzone 2.0 will be a “fully revamped experience” built from the ground up, specifically for new-generation systems, in the new Modern Warfare 2 engine. It will launch on November 16, a couple of weeks after Modern Warfare 2’s release, and will remain a free-to-play game.

When Is the Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta?

The first Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta period runs from Sept 16-20 (now ended), and the second beta period runs from Sept 22-26. This second wave will be available on all platforms (including crossplay), and anyone who's preordered Modern Warfare 2 can also participate in early access to the beta starting September 22 at 10 AM PT. If you haven't preordered, you can still join the action on September 24.

Call of Duty Beta Code Not Working

If you've received a faulty beta code you should contact your chosen retailer as soon as possible so they can send you a replacement one. If you're trying to play the Call of Duty beta right now, it won't be unlocked again until Sept 22 at 10 AM PT, be patient.
