When I try charging my watch it just flashes the apple logo and after awhile it just stops until I press the crown and it starts flashing again. What could this be?

My Apple watch Series 5 only flashes the Apple symbol on the screen. It started this over Christmas vacation.

Please fully charge the Apple Watch and try again.
If it still doesn't work then press and hold the side button and the crown for 15 seconds / until the apple logo appears. Then release the buttons. This may restart the watch.

Apple watch won't turn on. Just flashes

Since my husband updated his Apple Watch several months ago, it won't power on. When it's on the charger, the apple logo flashes, if we try to do a hard reset, a red exclamation mark pops up and gives a web site address apple.com/watch/help. I'm thinking the update did this. He has since got a new watch, unpaired the watch from his phone and has erased it from Find My iPhone, so none of those tricks will work if the update went sour before it finished. It's a Series 1, will Apple still support it if I take it to an Apple Store?
