People are now starting to get their new Apple Cards, which offer a physical option for payments that would otherwise be made through Apple Pay on an iPhone. The Apple Card doesn't have any numbers printed on it, which is an added security feature in case you lose it.

You won't see the account number, your expiration date or the CVV number. Instead, all of those numbers are buried inside the Apple Wallet application on your iPhone, safe from prying eyes.

If you want to make a payment online through a retailer that doesn't have Apple Pay, you need to know where your number, expiration date and CVV code are.

Here's how to find them.

How to find your Apple Card number

  • Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  • Select the Apple Card.
  • Tap the ellipsis button (the menu) on the top right.
  • Choose "Card Information."
  • Verify your identity using Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone's passcode.

Now you'll see a list with all of the details you can use to make payments where Apple Pay isn't accepted. You'll see your full card number, the expiration date and your security code. Also, there's an option to request a new card number should you feel that your account has been compromised.

You'll see four digits representing your physical card. This is what you can present to someone if they need to process a return for a purchase made in person with your physical card. That's because your "card number" associated with your physical card is different from the digital one used for purchases made with Apple Pay.

With Digital Wallet transactions your receipts do not show the last few digits of the actual credit card. They instead show the last few digits of the Device Account Number. This is the normal function of most digital wallet options such as Apple and Google Pay and it is extremely secure for the user in terms of limiting their card number's exposure.

For example, when a payment card is added to Apple Pay, the combination of that card and that device (Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad or Mac) is given a unique Device Account Number.

Using this number instead of your actual card number forms part of Apple Pay's built-in security measures that help to protect your data during payment transactions.

It is recommended when processing a refund to ask the customer to show you the last few digits of this number on their device.

To view the last few digits of the Device Account Number on the device that was used for payment:

On iPhone: Open Wallet > select the card that was used for payment > tap on the info "i" icon at the lower-right > tap on the Info tab > the last few digits of your Device Account Number are displayed under Card Information.

For payments made via Apple Watch: on your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Wallet & Apple Pay > tap on the payment card > the last few digits of your Device Account Number are displayed under Card Information.

A digital wallet is a way to carry your credit and debit card information in a secure digital form on your mobile device (smartphone, smartwatch, tablet). Instead of using your physical plastic card to make purchases, a digital wallet allows you to pay in stores, in apps, or online. You can also access any Wells Fargo ATM when you add your Wells Fargo Debit or Wells Fargo EasyPay® Card to your digital wallet. Here’s an overview of how digital wallets work.

    How to get started

Add your eligible Wells Fargo cards to the digital wallet you’d like to use.

Access your digital wallet and choose your Wells Fargo card when you check out at a participating business.

Receive payment confirmation on your device.

    Pay Securely

Digital wallets replace your actual card number with a unique digital card number. This means businesses do not see or store your full card number.

    Easy to Use

Confirm your identity with a PIN, fingerprint or iris/face scan. Then tap to pay at a participating business.

    Accepted in many places

In stores, simply tap your mobile device where you see the digital wallet logo or Contactless Symbol at checkout. Or select the digital wallet logo when shopping online and in apps.

    Tap for ATM access

Just add your Wells Fargo Debit or Wells Fargo EasyPay® Card to a digital wallet and access any Wells Fargo ATM by tapping on the Contactless Symbol.

     Peace of Mind

And when you use your Wells Fargo cards with a digital wallet, you will continue to have the added security of 24/7 fraud monitoring and Zero Liability protection.

    Choosing a digital wallet

Options to pay with your digital wallet are generally based on your device's operating system and manufacturer.
