90 day fiancé the other way season 2 who is still together

One of TV’s most deliciously awkward shows, “90 Day Fiancé,” recently wrapped its eighth season on TLC and continues to be a fascinating experiment in love and culture wars.

The hit reality series is built around the United State’s K-1 visa program, which allows U.S. citizens to sponsor their fiancé to legally live in the United States. But the sponsor and the applicant must marry within 90 days of entry into the U.S.

“90 Day Fiancé” has spawned multiple spinoff shows on TLC and helped the network become a ratings juggernaut for Disney, topping all cablers in the key women demo of ages 25-54 in recent Nielsen quarterly reports.

TLC president Howard Lee, whose parents were Chinese immigrants, told Variety in 2020 that the network’s programming is a reflection of his own life in the U.S. “I understand them and why they want to try to be further understood,” he says of the reality stars in shows like “90 Day Fiancé.” “‘Please understand me’ or ‘Please understand my family’: That comes across in our programming. And you have to experience that as a child to really understand.”

TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé” spinoffs include “Happily Ever After?”, “Before the 90 Days,” “What Now?”, “The Other Way,” “Pillow Talk” and the more recent COVID-19-themed show, “Self Quarantined,” all of which feature either recurring participants of the show or new couples.

As for the original “90 Day Fiancé,” as evident from the vast amount of spinoffs, viewers are eager to find out: which couples are still together? And who called it quits? Well, here’s an update on all 41 couples from TLC’s popular marital series, starting with the first season back in 2014.

Still together? 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2 was full of ups and downs as six Americans documented their journeys to move to a foreign county in order to be with the one they love. For many of the couples, their relationships were put to the test.

Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh returned to continue sharing their love story after they brought high drama on season 1. As viewers recall, Jenny originally planned to move to India permanently from her native California to be with Sumit in 2019. But after living with him in an apartment in New Delhi for several months, Jenny found out the most heartbreaking news: Sumit was married and she was the “other woman” as he was having an affair with Jenny behind his wife’s back. After learning the shocking news, Sumit promised Jenny he would divorce his wife so they could be together. Jenny returned to America briefly while they waited for his divorce to be finalized, and traveled back to India with the hopes to finally marry Sumit.

Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Leealso returned for a second season after tying the knot on season 1. The couple documented Deavan’s permanent move to South Korea with her daughter, Drascilla, from a previous marriage and the couple’s son, Taeyang, so they could start their lives as a family of four with Jihoon. But the couple’s relationship faced several challenges including a language barrier and money issues.

Season 2 also introduced four new couples to the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Tim Clarkson planned to leave everything behind in America to move to Medellín, Colombia with girlfriend Melyza Zeta, as a way of showing her he was fully committed to their relationship after he cheated on her with a coworker.

Ariela Weinberg met Biniyam Shibre during a vacation in his native Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The couple quickly started dating and got pregnant very early on in their relationship. Ariela decided to give up her life in New Jersey to move permanently to Ethiopia so she and Biniyam could raise their son, Aviel, together as a family.

Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio joined the season 2 cast as the franchise’s second same-sex couple. Kenneth relocated from Florida to Mexico to be with Armando, and the couple prepared to start their lives together as a family of three with Armando’s daughter, Hannah, in a country where LGBTQ rights are not as progressive.

Brittany Banks and Yazan Abu Hurira seemed to come from two completely different worlds, but the Florida resident took a chance on love and moved to Yazan’s native country of Jordan to start their lives together. But the couple’s cultural differences and family pressure quickly caused major issues in their relationship.

Tim and Melyza

Tim Clarkson and Melyza Zeta were the only couple who did not appear in a scene during the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2 finale. In the episode prior, the couple had a tearful goodbye at the airport after Tim decided it would be best for him to return to the United States because he couldn’t find a job in Colombia. His plan was to find a company that would sponsor him on a work visa so he could return sometime in the near future.

Judging from his social media, Tim is very much still in America and has not returned to Colombia since filming. He posted a photo of the sticker he received when he voted early in the 2020 United States election in October 2020. The following month, he snapped a photo while outdoor dining with his mom and aunt at Taco Mama, which is a Mexican restaurant with locations in Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee.

As for Melzya, she shared a cryptic post via Instagram shortly after the episode aired. “Plays ‘Happier’ in the background,” she captioned a photo of herself smiling in a mirror, seemingly hinting about her mood after Tim left Medellín.

Days later, she shared a clip from a scene where she and Tim visited her parents and Tim broke the news about him moving back to America. Before the meeting, Tim expressed concern that Melyza’s parents will “plant a seed” in her head and urge her to break up with him while he’s back home.

“But the first seed was planted by him…” she wrote in response to his comment. “I think Tim should have tried harder to find a job in Colombia or take my offer…”

Deavan and Jihoon

Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee‘s story line ended with a cliffhanger. Deavan revealed the couple had not been getting long while quarantining together amid the coronavirus pandemic in South Korea.

The model decided it would be best for her to visit her family in America for a month to reflect on their marriage and decide what she wants to do moving forward. She promised Jihoon she would eventually return, but he was worried that she wouldn’t.

Deavan arrived in America in May 2020, but it seems she quickly made up her mind and decided she no longer wanted to be with Jihoon and moved on with new boyfriend Topher Park.

The Utah resident opened up about how she met Topher in a November 2020 interview with blogger John Yates. They crossed paths in November 2019 and reconnected in May 2020 via Instagram after Topher realized they had a mutual friend and were all from the same town in California. After their second date, Deavan and Topher started dating exclusively and have been together ever since. The couple currently lives together with Deavan’s daughter, Drascilla, from a previous relationship and her son, Taeyang, whom she shares with Jihoon.

Jihoon confirmed his split from Deavan in August 2020, and Deavan confirmed she filed for divorce the following month.

Ariela and Biniyam

Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre were the only couple this season to end their story line with an engagement. Biniyam got down on one knee and proposed to Ariela at a celebration for the Timkat holiday in January 2020, just one month after they welcomed their son, Aviel.

It seems the couple is still going strong after cameras stopped rolling judging from their social media activity, but it’s unclear if Ari is still in Ethiopia with Bini or if she returned to New Jersey with their son.

Jenny and Sumit

Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh had a heartbreaking journey on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2. Even though Sumit’s divorce from his first wife was finalized, they still faced another big obstacle in their plans to finally get married. Sumit’s parents not only refused to accept his relationship with Jenny because of their 30-year age difference, but Sumit’s mother threatened to commit suicide if he went through with his plans to wed Jenny.

Sumit was able to convince his parents to compromise with him. They settled on a “50/50” agreement: Sumit’s parents would allow him to continue to be with Jenny as a live-in relationship and Sumit would agree not to legally marry her. Jenny was upset after Sumit called off their wedding, but he presented her with a promise ring as a token of his vow to continue trying to convince his parents to eventually give them their blessing to wed.

As of November 2020, it seems Jenny and Sumit are still together and she appears to still be living with him in India. It is unclear if they have tied the knot.

Brittany and Yazan

Brittany Banks and Yazan Abu Hurira‘s relationship seems to have faced more obstacles than any other couple on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2. Not only did they struggle with a language barrier, cultural differences and deceit, but they received pushback from Yazan’s parents and family who do not approve of Brittany.

Yazan’s family considered Brittany’s American ways like drinking alcohol, wearing what they deem to be revealing clothing and posting sexy photos on Instagram are “haram,” or a “sin” in their Muslim culture. Many in his family felt he would bring shame to their tribe if he marries a woman who does not respect their Islamic faith. The punishment for dishonoring his family would lead to Yazan being disowned by his loved ones or murdered in an honor killing.

Yazan was willing to risk it all to be with Brittany, but because his own father threatened his life, Brittany decided it wouldn’t be safe for them to remain in Jordan together as a couple. She suggested they apply for the K-1 visa, which would allow Yazan to legally enter the United States as her fiancé. The couple would need to marry within 90 days of his arrival. If they don’t, he would have to return to Jordan.

Even though Yazan didn’t originally plan to relocate to America, he agreed so they could be together. When Jordan announced it would close its borders and impose a lockdown in March 2020 in order to help slow the spread of coronavirus, Brittany decided it would be best for her to return to America while they await the K-1 visa process. Yazan was worried that Brittany would end up changing her mind about their relationship if she returned to America, and Brittany didn’t seem sure that she wanted to go through with the visa or a wedding.

As of November 2020, it’s unclear if Brittany and Yazan are still together but it seems they may have split recently. In August, Brittany posted a loved-up video clip of her and Yazan kissing and hugging with lyrics to Taylor Swift‘s “Love Story.” It seemed to prove they were going strong, but things may have taken a turn shortly after.

In November 2020, a rapper named KSlim took to Instagram to reveal he spent two weeks with Brittany in October 2020 and claimed they were dating after he paid for a private jet for her to travel with him to California. KSlim claimed he didn’t know Brittany was in a relationship with Yazan at the time.

Brittany posted photos and videos from the jet at the time, but denied being in a romantic relationship with KSlim after he spoke out against her.

“I’ll never date a big sloppy looking ass man. If I date him, he look put together. I hate a ‘where my hug at’ dude that can’t stay in the friend zone. Ewwww you could possibly never. Leave me alone weirdo before I call the cops. Like FRFR s–t getting creepy. I only knew you for two days and you clowning. It’s always the ones you never even kissed on the cheek that go psycho after one date,” she wrote via Instagram Story on November 8, 2020. “If we went on one date in the past or went out as friends and I didn’t talk to you again that means I wasn’t interested. We were not together and it’s nothing to get excited about. I am a nobody and you can’t get fame off me! I barely get attention. I can’t help none of y’all wack ass careers. Try a new marketing strategy cus this ain’t it.”

During an Instagram Live on November 28, Yazan revealed he was in a relationship and had a “girlfriend” but would not disclose the identity of his mystery woman or reveal if it was Brittany or not.
