The brake lights on your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee illuminate when you hit the brake pedal and help prevent you from being rear ended by the cars behind you. Brake light bulbs grow dimmer over time and eventually burn out. This video shows you how to change the brake lights on your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When you replace the brake light bulb on your Grand Cherokee, be careful not to touch the bulb directly with your fingers - the oil from your skin will cause the area that you touched to burn hotter than the rest of the bulb, which causes the bulb to burn out quicker.

If you are going to replace a bulb in your cluster, it is a good idea to replace all of them. Not only will the lights on your Grand Cherokee be brighter, you decrease the likelihood you will need to change any of the bulbs again in the near future. A burnt out bulb in the taillight cluster of your Grand Cherokee is an excuse for a police officer to pull you over. Check your bulbs frequently and change burnt bulbs promptly.

I bought 3 sockets (Dorman 923-034 Tail Lamp Socket), for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. These sockets go bad in time, and the Dorman sockets I purchased a couple of months ago would not work. They were totally useless because the contacts inside the sockets were either too short, or loose! I was skeptical, but I purchased 2 more sockets, this time from Mopar Express Parts. I inquired about the sockets in advance via email, and they informed me theirs were OEM! I received them today, they were indeed OEM Mopar parts, and they have the same defect and problem as the Dorman sockets! Translation, they did not work properly, unless you bent up the contact points inside the socket with a flat head screw driver! This allows the socket contacts to touch the metal contact plates inside the tail light assembly with more pressure. Bottom line, you're better off keeping your old sockets, and switching one of the other sockets around. Or, use a flat head screwdriver to adjust the contacts inside the socket.

What kind if bulbs does a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee take?

The low-beam 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee headlight bulb is a size 9006 while the high-beam is a 9005.

Which bulb on tail light is brake light?

It depends on the vehicle model. In many vehicles, the tail light and brake light share the same bulb called dual-filament bulb. Here, each filament is on a different circuit. The thin filament light lights up as a tail light, and the thicker filament, which emits a brighter light, is used for brake lights.

Where is the fuse for the brake lights on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The fuse panel is located by the drivers left knee under the dash.
