1.Use jacks and jack stands to lift and support your vehicle Show 2.Ensure that the pan in placed just below the tank from where the oil will flow. 3. Remove the mounting bolts and drain the oil. 4.Using the socket, and loosen the old pan. 5.Remove the existing oil pan. Use a clean rag to remove any metal debris. 6.Run a bead of the sealant used to hold the fiber gasket to the new oil pan and install the gasket. 7.Make sure the holes for the bolts in the gasket and pan match each other and then install. 8.Tighten the screws or bolts until they start to snug. 9.Replace the old oil filter and add the proper amount of oil. Make sure to watch for leaks. The above steps are for reference only, and we recommend you to ask the technician to do the replacement. Joined

Discussion Starter · #1 · May 12, 2009 Just picked up 04 4.7 and went to change oil and found oil pan is rusted pretty well. Looked up labor time and it shows 5.7 hours in labor. anyone done this and did you have to swing and tricks to make it go by easier. not too bad.....here is from alldatapro.com .... we use this at work.. if it were my car, id leave it... if its not leaking i wouldnt worry.. OIL PAN REMOVAL Disconnect negative cable from battery. Clean oil pan in solvent and
wipe dry with a clean cloth. Inspect oil drain plug and plug hole for stripped or damaged threads. Repair as necessary. Clean oil pan and all sealing surfaces. Inspect oil pan

Its not too bad to remove the Y pipe, at least on mine it wasn't. The bolts are somewhat difficult to get to, but the nuts on the back have tabs so you do not have to hold them. Joined Feb 17, 2005 · 362 Posts
