The 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5 9 camshaft position sensor location is different on different makes and models, however, it will always be near the crankshaft itself. If You need to replace the sensor then it will cost You between 190 and 300 dollars, plus another 200 for the labor of having it installed. The sensor is in charge of making sure the crankshaft is turning at the correct speed. If the shaft is not working right You will notice many potential problems, including stalling, shaking, rough acceleration, and the check engine light coming on. This is because the timing of the engine is not correct and it is firing badly. In addition to the immediate issues, You will also be putting a strain on the engine, which in time can lead to a lot more damage and costs.

So much misinformation here. This must be the internet. The cam position sensor for the 2002 5.9L is located inside the distributor. It's about a $30 part. The hardest part is getting the dried-out connector apart without breaking it.
Pull the distributor cap off and the rotary byg. There is a flat disk with wires coming off of it. In the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L Magnum its is known as pick up coil.
